He's a story about John. Years ago I found myself flush with cash from a good job and some ebaying so I decided that I wanted to go after a lot of those KLF rarities, which at the time were going for really obscene amounts of money.
I have been on this list from 96/97 and put a shout-out that I was looking to buy some rarities but would only deal with "Ancients" as Tim would call them.
John was one of the two people who responded. He had reached a point in his life where owning the physical records didn't matter to him anymore, so he digitized his KLF records and decided to sell them because of the going prices, and this is a direct quote "this is a life-changing amount of money" and whilst John still loved the music, if memory serves he was planning on changing direction. Don't remember if this was marriage, education, buying a new home etc. but it was something big for him.
We negotiated, discussed condition, all the usual things. At the end John sold me the bulk of his rarities for a good but not outragous price. Don't get me wrong, I PAID for these records but John could have certainly made more selling them on eBay. He was a long time list member, knew I was, and sold  me some great stuff at a good but fair price. He really did me a solid as he could have made about 20% more selling them individually on ebay.
MUCH of what resides on the LL was purchased by me from John.
I didn't know him personally, but had many dealings with him and through those dealings learned that he was fair, kind, a "seeker", and always sought to evolve. I will miss him :-(
Next time you grab something from the LL remember it probably belonged to John :-)
