Level 42

I have just finished making a Level 42 DVD with all of their greatest video hits and also with some Live footage and also a 2 part interview. I have also put their Diskog to date in the DVD. I am using Sonic Foundry DVD Architect to make the DVD. I have encoded the main video file with AC3 5.1 surround and the other files with AC3 stereo. I am hopeful that it will turn out nice as I did an earlier version of this DVD in NTSC widescreen. This is letterbox and not widescreen. Did not like that setting for the compilation. Now that I have a fast machine I will be converting all my laserdiscs and VHS tapes to DVD and will be hooking up a VCR to the PC. Not sure how that will work yet. My camera also allows a pass thru : vhs-dv-pc without having to record. The drawback of using DV is that it saves as avi. So 1 hour is 12gb of data. When I was editing last years home movies down to a 35m film I had six tapes to store, then to encode and reencode as I tested and reedited stuff, then the dvd folders which were 4gb alone Damn near 100gb just for that project. So glad when I was finally able to delete that folder! -paul

KLF video in tv commercial

Yep, I was watching tv while on the puter the other day and heard the Doctorin' the Tardis theme. I look up at the tv screen and sure enough, it was a local sports commercial here in the Fort Worth/Dallas, Texas area. They were talking over the commercial and flashing information on the screen about sports, but in the background is playing the Doctorin' the Tardis video. I was stoked! The video quality was top notch, better than I have seen so far. Wished a had that quality on my version of the video. Just thought I'd share with ya'll. Chris Gable

I found it almost immediately intuitive, but I have analog video editing experience so that might color my opinion. But I let my neighbor edit something on her own on it and she picked it up right away after a few pointers. For authoring I've been using Adobe Encore. It's a little monsterous but I found it gave me absolute and total control over the DVD menu system, etc. I originally tried it because it allowed subtitles and multiple audio tracks but when I abandoned those ideas for my project I stuck with it. It can take a long time to get things right, I've found, while some other more wizard based programs like Ulead DVD Workshop are quick and easy. You just don't have the control you might like. Can someone tell me a few good titles to get for some great, topnotch, DVD authoring software. I just did an upgrade to my computer and I bought an AMD 3000xp+ and a NEC 2500a R+/R- DVD burner and I need some good authoring software. Renigade FTP

I will be closing my ftp for about 2 months starting around July 3 and it should be back up and running around the 1st of September. This is due to the move and is only a temporary outage. The ftp at ftp.klfcentral.com will be up and running during that time. I will be on dial-up during those few months and the rmstringer(a)peoplepc.com will be my only email address. RM, Thanx for the reply. However, I've tried several times to access via using my IE and it seems I was unable to login as stated "No Access Rights". Any idea? Thanx you guys. I've finally got in. Now KLF will rock ya! Alex :) Alex, you can't generally connect to ftp servers with IE, you need a dedicated ftp client program. Try Googling 'cuteftp' or 'flashfxp' (my personal fave but make sure the sites seem legit official sites) as I believe free trial versions are available for both.
