Hi I was chattng to a bloke I met tonight and he remembers the early days of th JAMMS (he didnt know, until tonight, that they became the KLF!!!!!) and said that he was working for a music paper in '87 in london and he remembered the 'all you need is love' single and promptly bought the '1987' album. Then he left the paper and went to university in Newcastle (to study neurology or summat like that). He said that some student, around 1990 offered him £50 for his copy of 1987: WTFIGO and he promptly exchanged LP for cash . I then told him of the story behind the LP and he didn't seem concerned that he could've got a lot more. Then I thought of the sleeve notes to Shag Times. 5 copies were being sold at £1000 each. Most of us know that there were a hell of a lot more copies than the 5 B&J claimed. I remember seeing one for sale at £160. What's the highest price anyone has either paid or seen for an ORIGINAL LP of 1987?? Andrew

The Oasis - Progidy thing was just a comparison, it does'nt mean that KLF and Manics are the same as them, it just means that all of those acts rose to the top of their particular game. I was just making it a nice clean cut bit of symbolism, at one time Oasis were the biggest band in the UKand therefore a symbol of success whereaes bands like Crass and the Fall are symbols of obscurity. Its like when people use Hitler or Charles Manson as a symbol of evil and racism. Charles isnt the only serial killer in the world but he is the most famous and therefore appears on more Tshirts (he was even on South Park and Celebrity Deathmatch). Its like when I said about the Jag, I know Jimmy doesnt drive a Jag but Jags and mansions are symbols of success and wealth. And yes I agree with you, these mdern day hip hoppers are billboards for all of this corporate, mass produced designer shite. Any way, the point all along is this: what value do you place on credibility and authenticity? To put it in a simple way: a certain amount of Manics fans are hardcore Richey, no matter what the band do now they will think its crap. If the Manics released their best album next year they wont buy it because they wont except them without Richey. I still don't get ze point. Do you put them in ze same pigeonhole? The KLF and Richey among Oasis and Prodigy? Did Jimmy drive Jags or what? Nah, he had old Ford cop cars. look on ebay man ,theres a few oldie albums,,some jamms stuff and all quite cheap.but out of interest as price paid for klf related material,,i purchased 2 caulty blacksmoke stamps of destruction,signed proofs,i paid over £1500 for them ,and they are fantastic!.the point is ,if you want somthing bad enough ,you will pay whatever you have and maybe some more.

[my ftp]problems

For those who have been trying to access my ftp as i announced the other day, i am sorry that you haven't been able to. Yesterday morning i sufferd a major hard disk crash on my c:/ hardisk. I am up and running with my pc again, and will try to get my server up during sunday.
