Ed, Tim, at the URL you [Ed] gave: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/ I get: "Page not found" "This page either doesn't exist, or it moved somewhere else." However, when I removed: "/accounts/" and hit <Enter> I was taken to this page: https://mailman.xmission.com/postorius/lists/ which included Fractint and Fracdev in its list of Mailing Lists. Clicking the Fractint link showed me this page: https://mailman.xmission.com/postorius/lists/fractint.mailman.xmission.com/ where I tried the "Log In" button. Clicking the "Log In" button took me to an actual Log In page: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/login/?next=/postorius/lists/fractint.... (If the above long link is chopped into two non-working pieces, you may need to separately copy each piece and manually reassemble the two pieces into correct full URL in your browser address bar.) However, when I entered my *Fractint* Login ID & password, I got: "The e-mail address and/or password you specified are not correct." My FracDev login attempt also failed. I tried the "Forgot Password?" link on the *FracDev* login page: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/login/?next=/postorius/lists/fractdev.... The "Forgot Password?" / "reset it" link they gave me was not "List-Specific": https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/password/reset/ On the Password Reset page I entered my email address, clicked "Reset My Password" and got: "The e-mail address is not assigned to any user account", so, it appears that they currently don't have access to their User Accounts database. Folks, Thanks to those of you who are helping figure out the new mailman interface. Please note you don't need to do any of this if you are subscribed, which you must be if you are seeing this, because this is a fractint list message! Xmission has upgraded their version of mailman. Some things have changed, but as near as I can tell, it works, and xmission did a great job of migrating folks. Let me add that xmission has a very admirable principled stance toward non-profits, and provides mailing lists to a number of folks like us at no cost, so we owe them big time. Looks like there is a distinction between having a mailman account and being subscribed to a list. When the smoke clears and we understand how things work, I'll consider updating the footer at the bottom of the fractint messages so it is more helpful. For the moment let's keep things simple and discuss just the fractint list, not fractdev. If you get lost, you can always start here: https://mailman.xmission.com When you get to this page: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/login/?next=/postorius/lists/fractint.... and you can't log in (as Hal Reported), notice at the top: " If you have not created an account yet, then please sign up <https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/signup/?next=%2Fpostorius%2Flists%2Ffractint.mailman.xmission.com%2F> first." The "sign up" link, in case the link above didn't work, is this: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/signup/?next=%2Fpostorius%2Flists%2Ffr... If you click on "sign up" you can create an account if you don't have one, then you can log in. Once again, you don't need an account to be subscribed. Having an account just gives you more options for managing your subscription. Normally I would consider this sort of administrivia off topic, but since the list is mostly quiet these days, let's say it's fine to discuss this here for, say, no more than a week. If there's more to discuss after that, we can resurrect fractdev and move the discussion there. Meanwhile if anyone has a great fractint fractal to share, post away to relieve list members from this arcane administrative stuff that may not interest some of them! I Hope everyone is well. I'm fine (albeit hot) here in Texas. Tim
Thanks for clearing things up Alex Dukay

I'm at https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/password/reset/ after following your link in the email. The reply is The e-mail address is not assigned to any user account and yet I've just received this email from you. Anyway, I shall attempt to set up an account, and should return ,' this account already exists', if my account is active. On Sun, Jun 20, 2021 at 5:09 AM Timothy Wegner <tim@tswegner.net> wrote:

I am pretty sure you don't have an account. Xmission is is using a mailman front end called postorius which is what we are dealing with now. As I have said, you don't need an account to be subscribed to the list. I am still trying to understand what advantages having an account gives. Will be interested to hear your report tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback. Tim On Sat, Jun 19, 2021, 9:10 PM Edward Montague <sciwiseg@gmail.com> wrote:
