FOTD -- February 28, 2014 (Rating A-6,M-6)
Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image was created when I combined 6 negative parts of
Z^(-1.3) with 1.5 negative parts of Z^(-7.7) and added (1/C) on
every iteration. The resulting parent fractal is a typical
string of bays stacked north-south, with a prominent 'fan' exten-
ding east from the origin. Today's scene lies in the east
valley area of one of the many various sized minibrots strung
along the eastern edge of the fan blade.
I named the image "Lost and All Alone" when I noticed that the
scene is totally cut off from the rest of the parent fractal. I
did not check to see whether it is also cut off from the rest of
the entire Julibrot. It might not even be possible to do this.
Since the art and math aspects are both old tricks, they rate an
average 6, which is not all that bad but nothing to get excited
about either.
The calculation time of 1-3/4 minutes is within the field of
reason. And as always, the FOTD web sites can make the calcula-
tion even more reasonable.
Time may be saved by checking the finished image at:

The day began with a temperature of 0F -18C, but with total sun
and no wind, the afternoon became almost pleasant. The fractal
cats took full advantage of the sun, which at this time of year
falls at its most efficient angle on their shelf. The fractal
humans watched the midday news shows and wondered how much of
the so-called 'news' we hear on the mass media outlets is based
on fact and how much is propaganda intended to advance someone's
agenda.
The next FOTD will be posted sometime next month, and that's no
propaganda. Until the next time arrives, take care, and when a
person believes only half of what he hears as news, he believes
far too much.

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image is a scene deep in the north branch of the valley
just beyond Scepter Valley of the Mandelbrot set. Since the
image lies at the extreme limit of the range of conventional
math, it will be slightly improved if rendered with arbitrary
precision math. However, doing this will increase the
calculation time to over an hour.
I named the image "The Second Scepter" because the scene lies in
what I consider to be the second Scepter Valley.
For artistic effect I set the logmap to an artificially high
value, but even so, it's hard to get something new out of an
overused idea. As a result, I could rate the art value no
higher than a 6. The math value remains a miserable 3. After
all, the first thing every fractal tyro learns is the formula
Z^2+C.
Be prepared to wait 2-1/4 minutes for the image to finish on a
SOTA machine, and longer on an older unit. In such situations
the web sites can bring relief.
The finished image is posted online at:

Today brought a mix of sun and clouds plus frequent flurries of
snow to Fractal Central. The temperature of 25F -4C was too
chilly for the fractal cats, who spent the afternoon sleeping.
The fractal humans, who could not take time to sleep, passed the
day doing other things, which to the rest of the world would be
terribly uninteresting.
The next FOTD will be posted in the near future, most likely
24 hours. Until the next time, take care, and how could an
intelligent person like myself become so disillusioned with
the same science that I found so fascinating in my younger
years?

HI,
;
in private emails I have been asked for my fractal music-
It´s being played on private events and said to be available
on facebook. I cannot verify as I have not registered and
never will do.
;
I have decided to publish my fractal rhythm too,
as it is better then to face bad imitations.
Also I have been asked to allow inserting my music
in noncommercial CD releases, which is ok-
It would be nice though to name the author-
I want to stress one aspect though:
I despise having my music compared to commercial
music fof any kind, call it experimental, avangardistic
or whatever - that´s also the reason I will not modify
it to fit into any musical pattern.
;
Anyway here is a new title of the relaxing type.
The image used for scanning was released MOTD 040213
;
Careful when playing Midi:The quality depends on your
system and naybe disapointing.
The mp3 is 320kb high quality, dual channel.

Discussion is welcome!

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image is a return trip to the Mandelbrot set, where
we check very deep into the extremity of the long filament
extending northwest from a large bud on the northern shore of
the large period-2 bud of the M-set.
The name "A very Deep Scepter" is a bit misleading, since the
scene lies rather far from Scepter Valley. The art rating of an
8 reflects the time and effort I put into smoothing the colors.
The math rating of a lowly 3 indicates that the formula became
totally familiar and overworked quite long ago.
With the image lying at a depth of over 10^(40), arbitrary
precision math is a must. Even so, with a calculation time of
10 minutes, the image is still relatively fast. And visiting
the web sites will bring satisfaction almost instantly.
Save the ten minutes by checking the finished image on the FOTD
web sites at:

The day began with 2cm of snow, but by midday the sky had
cleared, and the afternoon brought a lot of sun with a chilly
temperature of 23F -5C. Meanwhile, the fractal cats non-
adventures continued unabated. They passed the day playing,
eating and sleeping, hardly an exciting routine to report. The
fractal humans were almost as active as the cats.
The next FOTD will probably be posted in 24 hours. Until then,
take care, and scientific investigation makes the existence of
unpleasant things such as bigfoots, mysterious triangles, space
aliens and ghosts very doubtful. Unfortunately it also makes
the existence of pleasant things such as God, and a life after
death in heaven very doubtful. So should we believe everything
discovered by science, believe nothing at all, or believe only
the things that make us feel good, while we doubt the things
that question our pleasant beliefs?

Today's image is a scene just east of a minor minibrot complex
on the negative X-axis complex of the Z^(2.001)+C Mandeloid. In
my opinion, the art rates a 6 and the math rates a 5, making the

Today's image is a scene in an oversized parent Mandelbrot set
that is just beginning to be corrupted in its depths by Z^(2.5)
energies. The image lies at the edge of the infinitely divided
main spike in the East Valley of the largest minibrot.
The name "Ants in the Fractal" came about when for some reason I
had the impression of spider webs and a colony of ants swarming
through the depths of the image.
The art rates a 7, mostly because I think the colors are kind of
classy. The math rating of a 7 shows that the math trick is a

A mix of clouds and sun with a high temperature of freezing made
today typical of late February here at Fractal Central. The

annoyed by the frequent fade-outs and decided to settle on the

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's curious scene lies in the parent fractal that results
when the expression (-Z)^(2.5)+C is iterated. This parent
resembles a M-set that is splitting apart on both its east and
west sides. Today's image lies deep in an elephant star in the
East Valley area of the large minibrot on the northernmost of
the two main filaments, which explains the name "Elephant Star".
The art rating of a 6 might be conservative. FL says the image
should be rated a 7. I disagree. The math rating of a 5
however is right on the mark. Iterating negative Z, which is
the only math trick, is over 20 years old.
The calculation time remains a problem. 7-3/4 minutes is
admittedly quite a lot to pay for an image that rates only
average numbers. But here is where the web sites bring relief.

it now is clear: the new type2 adds an indefinite
number of possibilities to the already indefinite
already existing. So what have we got now?
;
The magnet variations really are beautiful and
fascinating, only 1 shown today with a ManyMods
inside image. I already told you about the intelligent
way it adapts to other frms and surroundings. Here´s
one more.
;
A parfile as from now on always is included for
own modifications and resolution changes.
;
And sorry! A minimum change of the frm again
has been programmed, but only magnet involved
to be sure previous images are not altered.
It´s a new country and that involves new and
unknown places to explore. And that´s a thrilling
game, believe me.

HI,
yesterday and today I posted some images of the
new type 2 which are different from previous versions,
as the basic image is independent from
function 1 now and this now is available for the participating
frms to use. Of course this version is added and
all other images are still available.
Here now is a complete set of those basic images
including the parfiles. If you compare them with the
previous versions you´ll notice that all (except Phoenix)
are different.
Here again is the first link dated feb12 again:
