Progress in WINFract Port to 32 Bit Windows Code
Hi Team, I just thought I had better give you a progress report. GIF file open and save: Only reads 256 colour files at this stage Colours: 256 colour 8 bit true colour only - palette files OK Colour Cycling: Swap lots of memory - not palette driven Passes: All work up to v20.2, Hor and vert blinds added Basic Options: OK up to v20.2 Extended options: Coded up to v20.2 but not fully tested Formula Parameters: OK up to v20.2 Printing: OK 3D: Works sort of. Needs a lot of work Batch file: OK as long as there is no Arb precision or skew zooming Arbitrary Precision: Coded but not working Copy to ClipBoard: Not quite yet Fractal Formula: OK up to v20.2 3D Params: OK Starfield: OK Random Dot Stereo: Works but problem with user interface Zooming: Very basic - no skew or rotation Status and Coord box: OK Fractint Style Dialog boxes: Inhibited (Why use it if we have win GUI?) Load and save colour map: OK Help: Not yet. Interface OK but help file not built. Video modes: (Windows driven) 256 colour only 640 * 480, 800 * 500, 1024 * 768. Parser: Not yet. Memory model: Upgraded to 32 bit Windows. All original non-windows sources should compile as before as changes wrapped in #ifdef WIN32, #endif. I remember someone saying that they have help source files in RTF format for Fractint Help. Can anyone help, please? Any comments greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Paul. ---------------------------------------------------------- Paul de Leeuw Computers Central Coast Australia Email: pdeleeuw@deleeuw.com.au www: http://www.deleeuw.com.au ABN 72 360 822 562 ----------------------------------------------------------

Oops, I let this through because I saw it was from Paul. I didn't realize it had a big attachment. Paul, we have an account created for you at Fractint.org precisely so you can upload files. Let me know if you need some assistance to use this account. I'm guessing you will need a little. If you upload files to fractint.org, then your message only need include the URL for the file. The list software (intentionally) prevents large attachments. This message came through only because I approved it by hand. Tim

The inside=fmod seems to have problems. It doesn't show as selected when you return to the Basic Options screen. Is there a way to set the inside and outside colors? You probably haven't gotten to the bailout tests. They don't work. But, the menu selection for them shouldn't be displayed for fractal types that can't/don't use them. Like the cellular type (which is broken anyway). I'm sure you don't need everybody pinging on you about every little detail. It might help if you suggested an area for people to look at. Jonathan

I have the latest 20.2 full FractInt document in both RTF format, and in MS-Word format. The latter is broken down into sub-documents within a Master document called "FractInt.doc". It also has a MS-Word formatted Table Of Contents and an Index, which work as linked references to their topics. This copy would translate better into an HTML set of pages, since it is already broken down into sub-topics. Both have had most all of the grammar and spelling errors corrected (there were hundreds), and several other items corrected, such as missing options in the command definitions. They both copies have the page number references removed, since these are not valid in these formats. You can download them from this location: http://66.39.71.195/Software/Master_Word_Doc.zip http://66.39.71.195/Software/RTF_Doc.zip For Tim or whomever, you may wish to compare my copy to what is currently used in FractInt for correcting the same errors; i.e. search for the word "lime". Or I could do this for you as a project/task before your next release. Then give you the finished output. Sincerely, P.N.L. -------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.fractalus.com/cgi-bin/theway?ring=fractals&id=43&go
