PNG fRAC chunk (was [Fractdev] 6-bit to 8-bit color channels )

I guess I'll have to wait until you expound upon this later, though.
My original idea (in broad terms) was this. 1. Define a number of "subchunks" for fRAc, and treat them a lot like PNG treats chunks, but inside fRAc. I doubt sunchunk is an official PNG idea, so we'd need to extend the PNG API for fRAc purposes. 2. Define separate subchunks for obvious data items like corners or center mag. As much as possible make these universal so other fractal programs could use them (not that we're going to drive what other prograns do any more). 3. Then there are bound to be other fractint-specific items, maybe a lot of them, that we can't avoid. Figure out how to deal with them. Maybe fRAc, or at least parts of fRAc, will be "Stone Soup" spefcific. This is just a start. No big rush because the GIF extension facility will work fine for a while. Tim
Dear Friends, I have not seen any activity from this group in a long time. Is anyone still working on Fractint? I miss hearing from you guys. I hop;e that everyone is OK. Please let me know what's happening. Jonathan posted some some changes to subversion for the DOS version in early August. Rich last posted changes to subversion in mid July. Jonathan and I met in June and we do intend to wrap up loose ends on converting the current developer version to an official release. I also have some pending work I will get back to. THis is mostly a matter of making time. For example, just came back from a weekend in Seattle for a wedding. I don't know Rich's plans. He has been working fairly intensely over more than a year. He may be taking a break, or he may have moved on to other projects. Tim
Many thanks Tim, I'm pleased that the project is still happening :o) Paul. ---------------------------------------------------------- Paul de Leeuw Computers NSW Central Coast, Australia Email: pdeleeuw@deleeuw.com.au www: < http://www.deleeuw.com.au> ABN 72 360 822 562 ---------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: fractdev-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:fractdev-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Tim Wegner Sent: Tuesday, 25 September 2007 11:39 AM To: Fractint developer's list Subject: Re: [Fractdev] Why has everything become so quiet?
