The more I think about where I want to take FractInt, the more convinced I've become that its future is more OpenGL than SetPixel/GetPixel style graphics. OpenGL allows us to perform interactive manipulation of 3D fractals and orbit visualizations more efficiently and with less code than we do now. OpenGL leverages the graphics card more fully than any other cross-platform API. OpenGL graphics rendering is integrated into the wxWidgets framework. OpenGL shading language provides a mechanism for executing fractal formulas directly on the GPU. Unless someone offers a compelling reason not to do this, OpenGL is going to become the rendering engine on the roadmap. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>
