Writers Hector Ahumada and Brian Staker will read from theirworks on Wednesday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Libraryas part of the City Art Reading Series. This event is free and open to thepublic. Hector Ahumada, born in Santiago, Chile. Naturalized USA citizen. Salt LakeCity, Mayor's Award, Literary Arts, 1996. Brian Staker wasawarded an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Utah in 1993. He hashad poetry appear in numerous literary publications, including WesternHumanities Review and Otis Nebula. He has written art and music reviews for City Weekly, SLUG Magazine, Blurt Magazine andothers. He creates the occasional podcast TheAwkward Hour, and has presented two Awkwardfests featuring local musicians,comedians and artists. He is the author of two self-published novels: ‘Cough and Already In Progress. Last year he collaborated in the performancepiece ‘DiSPLACEment’ at Wellers Books with English professor/poet AlexCaldiero. Staker lives in Salt Lake City with artist, Julie Dunker, and theirson Jasper. Most featured readings are followed by an open reading. The event is free and open to the public.
