RE: [ZTT] The Essentials: The Art of Noise (new release)
I heard that ZTT will most likely sign to XXXXXXXX (snip!) for the US now... XXXXXXXX seem to be doing a nice line in rereleasing 80s records with remastering and attractive sleeves so it might be a positive step if this is indeed true. With regards to the Rhino release it is probable to be a new version of The Best of... (pink cover). Mark is correct, Rhino is a WEA owned company and WEA UK picked up their option to buy China some time back - all non ZTT albums are owned by AOL Time Warner. A friend of mine in Rhino said that they were busy preparing new rereleases of all the China era stuff and that a DVD was in the pipeline of the singles and live footage with the idea of a box set being discussed. Probably not a good idea to hold your breath though... I wonder, what of the unreleased music AON did for commercials... will that ever appear and who owns it???

Don't expect any (or not a lot?) of the ZTT era stuff on there... I heard that Universal lost the rights to the ZTT catalog and ZTT is shopping around for a new distributor in the U.S. I don't think ZTT would give away their best material for a $12 best-of collection.
Rhino records is owned by WEA and I heard that WEA UK has picked up the rights to China records. I'd expect most of the material for this collection to be from that era.
