I get up to Chicago and Bloomington frequently from Indianapolis. I also started a quasi-experimental presenting group at my university. If it doesn't come, bring it to you!

Since moving to Nowhere, NY four years ago, I've basically planned every vacation around musical events. For example, in three weeks I'll be going to Nashville to catch Wilco and Elvis Costello on back-to-back nights at the Ryman Auditorium. Prior to the move I lived in Boston, Miami and Fresno (which didn't exactly have a thriving music scene but was a cultural mecca compared to where I live now, and is close enough to San Francisco that I got my fill of good shows) so my biggest problem was finding the funds and the time to attend all the shows I wanted to see. I tried very very hard to get the school where I work to host a Masada String/Chamber/Quartet concert a couple of years ago, but the committee to which I belong lost interest after seeing the cost estimates and equipment demands.
