Not to mention the fact that 'Friends and Neighbors' has been available on CD from French BMG for a couple of years. I bought it at Tower; it wasn't even particularly expensive. It's my understanding that Ornette himself has the rights to his Impulse! recordings, which is what has prevented Mosaic from undertaking a box set (which arguably could contain 'Crisis,' 'Ornette at 12' and the unreleased 'Sun Suite of San Francisco,' with a couple of documented rarities from that period to "finish" it off). It's in Ornette's hands, apparently, though presumably the questionable nature of his current relationship with Verve must surely enter the picture. Steve Smith ssmith36 at sprynet.com
