Well, I'm a pretty big drum freak, so watch out! As far as solo drum/percussion CDs I'm very fond of the following and listen to them often: John French - O Solo Drumbo - amazing solo drum cuts from the Magic Band drummer including some songs from Trout Mask Replica Terry Bozzio - Drawing The Circle -This really showcases his abilities and his concepts as of drum orchestra. Christian Vander - Korusz Live drum only tracks from Magma's drummer/composer. Nothing short of thrilling. A 2CD set that's hard to find, but well worth tracking down. As far as full bands with drums go, my list is endless, but lately I've been inspired by: Flying Luttenbachers - Infection And Decline Mastodon - Remission Miles Davis - Filles De Kilemenjaro Just about anything Bill Bruford plays on (King Crimson, UK, latter-day Earthworks) Just about anything with Joey Baron. Enough for now! ***************************************************************** Phil Plencner - MrPhilP@ameritech.net Drummer, Percussionist, and All Around Great Guy ***************************************************************** http://www.mp3.com/Phil_Plencner/ http://www.mp3.com/ThePartsMissing/ http://www.mp3.com/stations/PhilsPicks/ "I'll bump into people who say 'Aw, I used to play the drums, but I sold my set.' I was also going to mention Bozzio... And I can second this recommendation. For a long time I haven't heard Bozzio fit into a band situation, but his solo stuff is incredible. It often sounds like two or three people playing at the same time, while it's just Bozzio himself - no overdubs! Stay well clear of his "Orchestral Works"... patRice np: Masada, Nine nr: Brookmyre, Quite Ugly One Morning
