sounds like the Dolphy record yer thinkin of is Other Aspects, which has tablas on one number. But the closest thing to an alto solo is a duet with Ron Carter on bass. It's been a while since I listenened to it, but I think he actually plays flute on the tablas piece. on the original question: I've got a duo record with Golparnath and tablas, but I wouldn't say it runs the gamut of sax noise -- it's more in a traditional Indian style. The Braxton sounds like the most likely choice so far. Although, if it's just 'hand drums' and not tablas, it probably could be a billion different records. There's some nice stuff on the Brotzmann/Drake duos. --- slew-mo elbo
