Coincidentally, at the farmer's market yesterday, I ran into one of the guys who put on last year's (reportedly great, I couldn't afford it) Andre Williams New Year's Eve bash here in N.O. Next time I see Mario, I should ask if Mr. Williams might have any bootlegs of himself he'd care to sell.... Mostly nobody buys me CDs or records, on the Coals to Newcastle principle. But once I drove to Gainesville, FL w/ friends to see the Sam Rivers Trio on my birthday at the late, lamented Covered Dish (which, despite the restaurant-sounding name, was a former disco), and they played "Happy Birthday" for me. That was better than a record, although I wish I had a record of it.... Parry
