Ulrich Krieger does a lot of extended-tone sax stuff - I don't have any of his solo records, but he's on Phill Niblock's "Young Person's Guide to Phill Niblock" and "Touch Food" CDs, both of which belong on any respectable drone shelf
I'll second Chris' recommendation on YPGPN, which is a great vehicle for Krieger's drone work. My favorite Niblock so far is the guitar CD on Moikai, but I'm looking forward to getting his hurdy gurdy CD. How's that one for those who might already have it? NP: Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Quintet, "Tails Out," DIW 946. I've been lucky to get a CDR of this before the actual release scheduled for Nov. 25 and it's terrific.
The hurdy-gurdy and voice CD is good, one of his more accessible discs in that the timbres tend to be more cuddly. If you don't have "Touch Works," though, I'd get that first - the piano piece in particular is just incredible. I'm eager to hear the Niblock cello disc Forced Exposure's going to put out, though I'm not gonna hold my breath. Does anyone know if Niblock's pronounced with a long "I"?
