Once again before the new year begins, I must mention Larry Young's out-of-print-since-1973 Lawrence of Newark, on the Perception label, rereleased in 2002 by Sanctuary Records.
A little disappointing that it hasn't cropped up on any top ten lists, YET... Has ANYONE else HEARD this? It's cheap (under $13), and unfortunately it includes no bonus material so it's pretty short, less than 40 minutes.
Early NYC downtown fusion at its best. But, wow:

Find me a boring Larry Young album, I dare ya. UNITY is still my favorite, along with TALKIN' 'BOUT, a Grant Green trio album with Elvin and LY. For Larry's less straight-ahead stuff, I still prefer the first Lifetime album. I'd prefer it even more if the sound wasn't so subpar. sh np: Stan Ridgway, MOSQUITOES
