Least accessible SY record is probably SYR2 (the blue one)- I can't remember the name...something like "Slapkammers mit Slagroom" or something like that. It's pretty formless, and doesn't quite go anywhere (I really love the other three of the original SYR recordings). SYR5 (kim gordon, ikue mori, DJ olive) looks great on paper but sounds like mongoloid bashing when you actually pop the disc in. Kim's a talentless hack, that's been established; but I thought Olive and Mori would somehow salvage the recording. I was wrong. "Silver Session" is inaccessible, yet interesting. It's essentially the band leaning all of their equipment against their amplifiers, recording the feedback drones, and then editing it all down into a group of songs. It's pretty, though- at that high volume/saturation, the sound turns into a sort of strange, creamy texture. andrew
speaking of the youth... a friend of mine has a large (3' x 5') poster of the "Goo" album cover she would like to find a good home for. this is from the Tower Records days when they made three-dimensional foam board artwork for the store. if you're interested, contact me offlist. --dk Yes.
