Any information about the Buck Jam Tonic project of John Zorn, Bill Laswell and Tatsuya Nakamura? Their double CD set was released in July, 2003. Since I've never heard anything about this project from zorn-list. Thanks!! Jan-wen Lu
Hi, I just read a couple of messages on the Laswell list on this album. I'd never heard about it but it looks really promising. Where can I get a copy of this NOW?! Thanks in advance. Best, Efrén del Valle --- Jan-wen Lu <janwen.lu@msa.hinet.net> escribió: >

It's pretty decent stuff... the Nakamura disc is very rock-oriented in its sound, editing, and mixing, while the Laswell disc concentrates on much longer (15-to-30-minute) tracks that blend a lot of that same material together. Taken together, they remind me a lot of Pain Killer: the vibe is close to the heavy bits of Execution Ground, but the drumming and pacing is a lot more like "Portent" on Guts of a Virgin. Oh, and Zorn actually *plays* for extended periods instead of just making shrieking noises. There should be some brief samples of the thing up on the Brainwashed Brain (www.brainwashed.com/brain/) next week.
