I like all of Jarmusch's films that I've seen, but has been awhile since I've watched any of them. I even liked "Night On Earth" which may draw some ire from certain quarters here, but what the fuck...Haven't been doing much reading, because I've been written all summer, but one thing that I have picked up and enjoyed is David Toop's "Exotica". It's even got Skip Heller in it , so you know it has to be good......I assume you people know all about it, one of the first non-dry music books I've read in a long time... I didn't even know I was in that thing until I picked it up cuz I saw Robert Drasnin's name in the index (Bob is my closest friend and made a great exotica record in 1959). I was bowled over by Topp's perception of what that music was, and that he was the first guy to write a book that really saw the whole picture. When I came upon references to some stuff with which I had been involved, and ACTUALLY CREDITED for my contributions), I was pretty flattered, to say the least. Even without that, the other books that purport to be about this stuff are pretty fluffy, and -- in at least one case -- somewhat racist. skip h
