It's the brainchild of violinist Jeff Gauthier who has chosen, on occasion of his 50th birthday, to re-create two of the most influential recordings of his youth; the 1971 recordings Crossings and Mwandishi by Herbie Hancock. This performance will include many local luminaries, and will be a tribute to an era of music-making that innovated the use of electronics, free-improvisation, world music, and creative composition; an era that has influenced the work of many of today's musicians.
