I never ordered from Tzadik itself, so I don't know. But it is possible that they charge different prices even though Bruce processes orders from both places.
Ah, it could be. There also is no separate shipping charge when ordering through the Tzadik website, so that may be a reason for the price difference. I'm just glad the DVD is available! Surprisingly (there's an indefinite strike in the Postal Service from my town) I already received the new Tzadik stuff, including the DVD. I have just watched it once and what stands out for me at the moment are Heuermann's relentless efforts to finish this documentary and her struggle to solve a difficult situation when many others would probably have given up. There's some very good footage from Naked City, Masada, game pieces, Hemophiliac, Redbird, etc ... I thought Zorn's statements would be scarcer, considering his love for interviews, but you can even see him at home for some brief moments (what a record collection!) I also received the Irving Stone memorial double cd-set. It's a good display of the downtown avant-jazz asthetics: Tim Berne, Marc Ribot, Ellery Eskelin, Tom Rainey, Sylvie Courvusier, Mark Feldman, Zorn, ... Lots of big names. I have to hear the Zorn/Graves duo yet, but I'm sure it will be a blast! By the way, when you purchase through Tzadik, your order is directly processed by Downtown Music Gallery. I don't know what that price difference means, but it's probably due to shipping costs, as someone said.
