some more things from my fellow dj at kdvs... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 08 Apr 2003 10:05:21 -0700 From: brian faulkner <bcfaulkner@ucdavis.edu> To: Chad Stockdale <chads@statenet.com> Subject: Re: okay You mean in general? Like the whole big wide world of possible re-issues? Let me ponder that one and get back to you on that. Things that pop right into mind are _The Truth is Marching In_ by Bloodloss (Aussie stuff, up there with Fungus Brains/Venom P easily), early Radiopuhelimet LPs (raging Finnish rock band, I'll bet Rick would concur on that), the first Starfuckers LP, Smegma's _Pigs For Lepers_ LP, the Ju Suk Reet Meat LP (it's possible that there are plans to reissue the last two of these already). I am sure that if I think about it for a few more minutes I will come up with a huge list. Second White Heaven LP. Uh, ok I need to stop.
my choices would be mostly japanese free jazz... mototeru takagi (rip) "mosura freight" heard a snippet of this on the takagi tribute show on WFMU and its pretty great. shohji ukagi/sabu toyozumi "sounds of vision" and probably the marzette watts lps issued on savoy.
Chad: LP(s)? As far as I know there were barely enough tracks for one LP let alone LPs. Hey, if you want to talk about sessions that were recorded but never released, there's the LP Sunny Murray did for Columbia, where by adding an extra track later on, he managed to get paid twice for the same disc. Right, one Watts lp for Savoy, one for ESP. Burton Greene's CBS LP was (barely) released. I've never heard it, but know folks who own it. Once Sony-Legacy finishes releasing every last scrap of Miles Davis it has in the vaults, maybe it could look there again and see what New Thing sessions it recorded.
