I've been listening for a few months, and it has a some staying power. I keep coming back to it, after it got a chance to prove itself and grow on me. It's just a good solid album with a few so-so tracks. It's not as good as Murray Street, but that doesn't mean it is bad. It's amazing how clean it is at first (cleaner than MS), but the clarity reveals many layers of well arranged, intricate guitar work--in singable, rock songs no less. The songs are as catchy as anything SY has done, but they aren't annoying or lesser songs. They concentrated on melodies (in addition to the arrangements) on this one, and they are wonderful (particularly on Renaldo's songs). All in all, Sonic Nurse is enjoyable, if not mind blowing. If a band can put out albums that are intersting and enjoyable after 20+ years in existence, can you really ask too much more?
