Hello Patrice and other zorn-listers, I looked at the new discography (of Zorn) and again it is a great source of information. Now, I was wondering about about an 8"-flexi record that I own. This is a record of Rin Kotogawa, a Japanese guitar player. According to the sleeve the record is produced by John Zorn, but as the record was recorded live at The Kitchen in NY on sep.23 1987 (at the JapanFest) and you hear Zorn announcing Rin Kotogawa, I was wondering if the "production" did not just mean that Zorn was the one who organized this evening at The Kitchen... Anyway the details are as follows: AFUFU NY: Rin Kotogawa 1/ I YaNaNo 2/ Suki NaNo 3/ Dame NaNo 4/ Otoko Kirai 5/ Afufu N.Y. Recorded live at The Kitchen on sep. 23 1987 Produced by John Zorn Rin Kotogawa: vocals, guitar, ??? ? - Hip Co. (Japan), HIP-88031 (8" flexi) Further Hip Co. als released a cassette tape of Rin Kotogawa (also live at the Kitchen) playing with Fred Frith and Christian Marclay, a.o. LIVE AT THE KITCHEN WITH FRED FRITH - Rin Kotogawa 1/ (Side 1) 2/ (Side 2) Rin Kotogawa: guitar; Fred Frith: guitar (1); Hideo Yamaki: drums (2); Christian Marclay: turntables (2) ? - Hip Co. (Japan), HIP-81113 (cassette tape) As far as I know Hip Co. is just Rin Kotogawa and these are both self-released things. Does anyone know more about Rin Kotogawa? Next to the two items above I own also another flexi 8" and a CD with Kotogawa's group Making Love... Is he/she still active? Maarten Hepp mhepp@xs4all.nl
