Funny you should mention the Radical Jewish Culture series this morning. Just last night I loaded my five-CD changer with Davka's "Judith" and "Lavy's Dream," Frank London's "Scientist at Work," Jenny Scheimann's "The Rabbi's Lover" and the New Klezmer Trio's "Short For Something." As the tunes shuffled through the evening I was awestruck by the consistent strength of the material. Not a bum track in the bunch. Last night listening experience inspired me to bring Danny Zamir's "Satlah" and "Live at Tonic: Exodus" as well as both of David Krakauer's Klezmer Madness discs to work today. While I don't own all of the RJC releases, I do own about 25 of them and I can say without hyperbole that I've enjoyed them all immensely. The Masada stuff is probably my favorite, but Davka and Krakauer follow close behind. Hell, even my officemate, who's a ZZ Top diehard, thinks "Klezmer, NY" rocks. I like Masada, of course. And the David Gould disc is amazing. Really fits the "RJC" label. Very strong Jewish influence, but still something totally new. At elast to me.

What about the recent Rabbinical School Dropouts' "Cosmic Tree" and Frank London's "Scientist at Work"? Those look interesting. And oh so many others...
