I just got my copy this week. It is absolutely beautiful! The release date is October 4 and Revenant is planning some events to celebrate the release. Events are being planned in Austin, NYC and Marfa Texas! Revenant is working on an Ornette set. A bunch of music has been gathered and Ornette and Denardo are still mulling it over. It could be awhile... You will probably see other Revenant projects before the completion of the Coleman box. The Ayler box contains a very nice hardbound book edited by Ben Young. It is great to see this kind of care taken in assessing Ayler's work. I think it will do a lot to raise the profile of improvised music and free jazz. I've been told that considerable care was taken to keep the production costs very low so the box would be affordable. The price I heard from the graphic designer is $85 retail! here is a sneak peak at the design... http://home.austin.rr.com/subculture/news.htm thanks pg moreno

Also, it was mentioned in the June issue of The Wire that some label is planning to issue a massive set of Ayler unreleased material. Anyone knows the details?
Revenant Records has had flyers for this set at the few gigs I made it down to Austin to hear this year, but there's nothing yet on the Web site: <http://www.revenantrecords.com/> The original release date was some time in fall 2004. A while back they also had plans for releasing a book/CD set of Ornette Coleman material, the book being a discussion of harmolodic structure, so who knows what may eventually appear. Bests, Herb
Hi, Would you lucky guys comment a bit on the Ayler set itself? I'm quite curious about the sound quality, etc... Best, Efrén del Valle --- "P.G. Moreno" <carbuncle@mail.utexas.edu> escribió: > I just got my copy this week. It is absolutely
