Both times I've seen Mono (Japanese band with album on Tzadik) there were hordes of horrified patrons who thought they were seeing the British techno group of the same name. There was no preparing them for the at times punishing noise that Mono unleashes. Most comically, there were people there that still didn't realize, even after the concert, that they had seen the wrong group. This nice woman I chatted with before the concert did not know what to think, only saying "I thought they sing" and "Did it have to be so loud?" I wonder if she has figured out that they group on CD is different than the one she saw live. ----- Original Message ----- From: Taylor McLaren <morakanabad@yahoo.ca> Date: Sunday, November 23, 2003 4:19 am Subject: re: Fado singers

don't confuse her with the Japanese Misia (no accent, _not_ fado) I can't agree with this warning enough: it would be a lot like somebody picking up a CD by the J-pop act Coil in the hope of finding something new by the kooky British mystics of the same name. Funny, but very disappointing if you paid import prices for the experience. On the other hand, if you're looking for bland Japanese R&B... actually, you're probably better off buying the Minmi album if that's the case.
