This is a really nasty statement about the audience and the performers. And I'm glad someone other than yours truly (who is guaranteed flamage everytime he points out a naked emperor) said it out loud, although the 'often women' part hopefully means 'although not so frequently as men'. >> dear skip- i meant very much not as frequently as men. this is not a reflection of the women artists but rather of some of the men who like them for extra-artistic reasons. when male performers are liked for extra-artistic reasons, it more often has to do with politics other than sexuality. as for bittova, my heteromale musicpals who love her rarely mention her w.o a comment beyond the music. as for me, i confess to having a wee collection of Lp jackets simply for stroke material, but i'd _never_ listen to the discs in em. always glad to hear from you, steve k. n.p.: formanex- cornelius cardew fibrr 04 (nude disc, no jacket <wink> )

Well, FWIW, I'm somewhat of a fan but can't remember what she looks like. But all it took was the first two minutes of her live performance in DC a few years back to put me in jaw-dropped awe of her musical talent. -- | josephzitt@josephzitt.com http://www.josephzitt.com/ | | http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt/ http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt/ | | == New book: Surprise Me with Beauty: the Music of Human Systems == | | Comma / Gray Code Silence: the John Cage Discussion List |

I also agree. I watched her from the back of a theater and was impressed by her performance. She performed some kind of imaginary fold music and the result was really moving. I felt stupid for having missed the first 10 minutes. Patrice.

I think Patrice pretty well nailed it in his post. I agree with both of y'all pretty much wholeheartedly. sh
