Tower Records is exiting the UK completely this month.
What, even their Piccadilly Circus branch? Haven't been there in ages as they're even more expensive than Virgin and HMV. Mind you, perhaps they will have a big sale before they close! I can readily think of two record shops in London that have latest rock/pop releases next to avant guarde stuff - Rough Trade (two branches, one in Covent Garden the other in Notting Hill), and Selectadisc (Soho). Selectadisc also has a branch in Nottingham, but I've not been to it. Piccadilly Records on Oldham Street, Manchester has the mixture you mentioned, as does Vinyl Exchange nearly opposite, a second hand store with a big Experimental section. Just off the top of my head. Why was the question asked, out of interest? Alastair -- Personalised email by http://another.com
sorry, entering this thread late ... apologies if others have already said this. but Smallfish Records on Old Street, Hoxton is ok too, as is Sounds of the Universe on Ingestre Place, Soho. and i can totally back up alastair's recommendation for Piccadilly Records in Manchester too - one of my favourites. hth, d.
