Rather than actually reading Bloom, go read Saul Bellow's Ravelstein, the author's protrait of his late friend Bloom. You will get a better sense of Bloom's humanity, complete with the flaws that Big Business found so attractive in promoting the hell out of his stupid book. Peter Downard
