Rhythm section notwithstanding......
Can someone provide some informations on this recent release:
BOXHOLDER 044 DAVID BUDBILL/WILLIAM PARKER/HAMID DRAKE - Songs For A Suffering World: Budbill (voice, shakuhachi), Parker (b,tp,balaphon, dilruba), Drake (dr, frame dr)
I´ve never heard of Mr. Budbill but love shakuhachi and with this rhythm section nothing can go wrong...

np: Sam Rivers - Waves (Tomato)
I was excited to get a copy because of the rhythm section and the label -- I've gotten some excellent Boxholder releases, including Sonny Simmons' Cosmosamatics and Borah Bergman, and they've had a couple good Chadbourne albums. But I couldn't make it even halfway through this thing. I found the poetry utterly uncompelling (even tho I agree with his politics) and the timbre and rhythm of Budbill's voice somehow both bland and annoying. But if you want to check out the poetry for yourself: http://www.davidbudbill.com/emperorlive.html I'd say, just keep listening to that excellent Sam Rivers album. NP: Jaki Byard -- Empirical (Muse)
