Hello Julian and the rest of the groop, If someone else has not already spoken up, the info i have given what Julian said is: 24 August 2000, Roccella Jonica international Jazz festival, with bill frisell, tony scherr (b), and kenny wollesen (dr). Great band, but never documented on a studio recording as a trio. Others on the list probably know more about the specific equipment frisell uses, but i can say he's got a couple of delay/sampling pedals (perhaps not manufactured any more) that he fiddles with during performances (to great effect, obviously). in related news, he has a new disc coming out in august (the frisell site says 'july', but i hear it's been pushed back to august), a collaboration with Hal Wilner (of 'Wierd Nightmare' fame), with (cut and pasted from the website) " Tony Scherr, Kenny Wollesen, Don Alias, a string section of Jenny Scheinman, Eyvind Kang and Hank Roberts as well as a horn section of Steven Bernstein, Curtis Fowlkes and Briggan Krauss". Also, there is supposed to be a 2cd release of live material from the frisell/scherr/wollesen and frisell/krauss/wollesen trios, but there doesn't seem to be a decided release date, yet. -whit On Sun, 4 Jul 2004, Julian wrote:
Heya, just curious about a few things...
I recently got a few tracks by the Frisell trio live off Soulseek - they are named as live in Roccella Jonica. Anyone know when this was, and who's in the trio?
Also there's an effect he uses on 'Shenandoah' which he's used a lot on albums but I always assumed it was overdubbing, seems it's not. Sounds like delay + pitch shift i.e. he plays a note, it comes back half a second later but up an octave or two... any ideas on what this pedal is?
Thanks, Julian.
