Mole Jazz - Gray's Inn Rd. near Kings Cross Station - is definitely worth a look.
Definitely - it has a very good second hand section. The following are all very central and could be done in a couple of hours, depending how long you like to browse: Ray's Jazz, now part of Foyles Bookshop on Charing Cross Road (nearest tube Tottenham Court Road) has a reasonable second hand selection. Selectadisc and Sister Ray on Berwick Street in Soho don't do second hand but have a good indie/alternative selection at reasonable prices. Reckless Records, also on Berwick Street, is solely second hand and has a large experimental section, plus all the stuff you'd expect. It's not particularly cheap though. Rough Trade is in Neals' Yard in Covent Garden. No second hand, but an excellent selection of indie/experimental music. It's in the basement of Slam City Skates. Worth a trip slightly further afield is Sound 323, at 323 Archway Road, Highgate (it's just outside the entrance to Highgate tube station, which you can get to via the Northern line from Kings Cross). This is my favourite record shop in London. A full selection of experimental musics and jazz, a very reasonable second hand section, and lots of Zorn. Good prices too.
