Kurt (and others): That (bonus) quote seems to sum up the attitude of ML towards *every* FIMAV. We should expect things, but be grateful for what he programs. Unfortunately often his choices are less than stellar. Although overall I think FIMAV 19 was fine -- I skipped the two previous years for various reasons -- there was still a lot more that could have been done. One massive missed opportunity was not utilizing the 25 British musicians of Tapestry in other concerts. For a start there could have been a Dunmall-Rogers duo concert, or a way for those two to play with a drummer plus/and or another musician such as saxophonist Simon Picard. Dunmall, Tippett and Paul Rutherford -- was he really there, if so he was very underutilized in the band -- could have played solo concerts. Tippett (K) and Tippets (J) could have played as a duo. Maggie Nichols could have fronted a band. Elton Dean could have performed with a rhythm section. And Oren Marshall could have been part of a smaller group. Those are just a few suggestions off the top of my head. And I'm not even mixing in other musicians working at the Fest who have played or recorded with Tapestry band members. Oh well. There's always next year. Wanna bet that this list's patron saint -- JZ -- is featured? Ken Waxman --- Kurt Gottschalk <ecstasymule@hotmail.com> wrote:
Next year: Victo turns 20. Bonus quote from Michel: I dont know why people seem to expect things because its the 20th anniversary.
