everyone has made very good recommendations. i would like to add: Lounge Lizards-first album (s/t) Golden Palaminos-first album (s/t)-includes Zorn, Anton Fier, Arto Lindsay, Bill Laswell James White and the Blacks-off white i will second TJatJ, Contortions, and Mars. definitely essential. i still need to pick up the live DNA. also worth checking out that are related: Lydia Lunch-Queen of Siam (one of my favorite records from the era, very stark, noisey but........catchy?)
