He did fine sets of jazz & poetry with saxophonist Herbie Morgan and bassist Brian Smithat at a few recent Visions fests. The man really knows how to interact with improv musicians. Of course the first time especially many were concerned that he may have sudenly decided to launch into one of his Anti-Semetic. And this was pre 9/11. Quartet and some other free jazz groups in the 60s. Hadn't seen him do much else in a musical setting until the Rudd/Shepp reunion disc.
