Turkey?

I just saw that the upcomming Einstuerzende Neubauten tour will end in Turkey and I rembered that I've noticed before, that it seems like more and more interesting musicians play in Turkey: Electric Masada, Melt Banana, Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot Mystery Trio, ICP Orchestra and several others comes to mind from the last year or two. Is there something new going on here or did I just first realise it now?
