Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone on the list was familiar with the guitarist Oleg Timofeyev. He's apparently some kind of pioneer in researching and playing the Russian seven-string guitar (tuned D G B d g b d'), which died out some time after the first half of the 19th century. A couple of years back I took an undergraduate course with him on russian music and culture, thought he was great, although I've never heard anything about him either before or after. He's by no means of an avant guarde, experimental or improvised background, but I found him to be at least a unique take on classical guitar. And, as long as we are talking about guitarists, does anyone have any particular favorite classical guitarists, or classical guitar albums, interests, or is this the wrong thing to ask of people more attuned to keiji haino nathan
