there are at least 3 records by umezu's band 'betsuni nanmo klezmer.' 'waltz' and 'ahiru' are from 1996 and 'omedeto' (on which i don't see a release year). they're fairly straight klez and not my favorite of umezu's stuff. it is fun, tho, to hear makagami koichi fake yiddish songs. he's done tons of stuff. the early dr. umezu records someone mentioned are way goofy - sorta remind me of dr. buzzard's original savannah band, if anyone remembers them. i love 'first deserter' on knitting factory (now oop, like all kf). i have a straightahead jazz trio disc called 'mix dynamite trio' that's quite good, too. he used to come to nyc, but i haven't seen him since '96 or so. he has a website at <http://www.j-music.com/umezu/index.html>, but unfortunately the discography page is broken or undone. _________________________________________________________________ Scope out the new MSN Plus Internet Software optimizes dial-up to the max! http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=byoa/plus&ST=1
