Having been a member of an audience all too many times where some stupid asshole wouldn't shut up, my vote goes to Zorn as Voice of the People.

Hell, I don't even like it when people applaud for solos. Obligatory bullshit like that just gets in the way. I'm glad they left on the record Mingus telling the audience to keep quiet for the Jazz Workshop -- I think it's 'Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus' on Candid.

Then, of course, there's the classic live recording, usually of a rock band, where the whole herd of an audience applauds as soon as they hear the first bars of a song they recognize -- which happens to be every motherfucking song. Shut up and listen already.
