What!?! Explain yourself
Just that the latter term of the analogy, while showing great facility for technical/aesthetic production methods and never being short of ideas, doesn't quite have the charm or, more specifically, the revolutionary intensity of the former term (give or take an occasional aberration). I gather that you are a Zappa fan, and I apologize for such a blunt dismissal. I have repeatedly attempted to lend an interested ear to his recordings on the recommendations of friends or even strangers, but I can never seem to get what the big deal is about. I like the 'Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue', though, and most of 'Weasels Ripped my Flesh', especially the cover.
I like a lot of Zappa, but ultimately it's the instrumental music that knocks me out - from Uncle Meat to Jazz From Hell and the Yellow Shark. He can be very funny, but Beefheart has it in the bizarre art dept. * David Beardsley * http://biink.com * http://mp3.com/davidbeardsley
