I'm confused... wasn't the Plotkin/Witte/Speedranch thing on Hydra Head called "Atomsmasher"? And is this the same group trading under a different name, perhaps because of the different approach to which you're alluding? Steve Smith ssmith36@sprynet.com (p.s. the upcoming Isis disc on Ipecac is heavy and hypnotic, though I'm not yet sure it's a vast improvement on the brilliant 'Celestial,' coincidentally on Hydra Head...) -----Original Message----- From: zorn-list-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:zorn-list-admin@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of William York Sent: Monday, August 26, 2002 6:55 AM To: zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: Phantomsmasher
any comments on the new Phantomsmasher CD om Ipecac?
I like it. Have you heard the last one (on Hydra Head)? This one is a little less noisy and more "song"-oriented than that. There are still blastbeats and crazy vocals and all that, but the overall feeling is actually pretty peaceful, which is odd. Also, if I had to guess, I would say this was more of a group effort in terms of how it was put together, as opposed to the last one where Dave Witte and Speedranch recorded their parts on their own and sent them to James Plotkin to chop up and put back together. But, I could be wrong, and maybe they did it that way again ...
