I know you guys will point me to the appropiate direction with Christian Fennesz and David Grubbs. I've heard some stuff from both and they sounded pretty good, but I couldn't really identify those recordings. Any good starters? Is Fennesz as interesting as they depict him or is it just some kind of annoying O'Rourke-like-hype?! I thank you in advance. from what i heard, fennesz is not the electronic musician, who develops his own software to get a unique sound, but takes big commercial sequencers, so i'm not sure, how flexible he is in improvising ... but he does (as found on his collaborations with polwechsel or keith rowe). he definitely is one of the very interesting eletronic musicians, who really knows how to use his software to create the sound he wants to get... ... the polwechsel / fennesz is a really beautiful recording (one of the most interesting recordings for me for the last years), it's improvised ... if you are interested in his solo works, check out hotel parallel or venice...
n.p: Rowe/Müller/Sugimoto "The World Turned Upside Down" (Erswhile) beautiful recording ;-)
