hello z-listers. ive been thinking about solo performances within the (loosely speaking) pop music world. specifically, sung/spoken performances that are written/conceived/delivered entirely by a single artist with no other instrumental or vocal accompaniment of any sort. a few examples that come to my mind are "me and a gun" by tori amos, "behind the wall" by tracy chapman, and various brief episodes in ani difranco's work. i would appreciate anyone's input to help me lengthen this list (which is not intended to represent only works by female artists) - thanks mg
