one of my favorite things about victo is seeing concert after concert and having wildly different opinions from others there. i'm planning to post a full(ish) report over the weekend, but in the meantime... 'vulcan' (the satoko fuji quartet album with tatsuya yoshida on drums) is basically ty sitting in with sf's band. it's not her strongest compositions, and ty is not a jazz drummer (he has no swing, and i don't think he's ever even seen a pair of brushes). the duo at victo was the complete opposite. sf fitting quite well into ty's world. while she wasn't altogether schooled in the ty vocal technique, she certainly gave it her all, and ty coaxed her into some harder piano playing than she's done (at least on recording) in several years. the communication between the two was remarkable, as is requisite in any of ty's projects. it was a lot of fun, a great gig. one of my faves from the fest. my guess is than ken isn't a ruins fan, and so didn't see where it was coming from. but it was great to hear ty's style with a lush accoustic instrument. cecil/bill/tony? it was pretty nice. i wonder what it would have been like if bill showed up... kg _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
