I've been hearing such good things about the 2003 PK shows.
so I have some questions for those who saw it:

1. Mentioned was the lack of metal-isms of Harris (missed?): so I'm
wondering, did Hamid do any blast beats?
2. Did Laswell use distortion at all?
3. Did it still have the hardcore element to it, as I think people said it
was very dub &big reggae grooves.

personally I always loved the metal-isms in old painkiller, but hated when
Harris would try &do a dub groove, so 'stiff', so I'm looking forward to
hearing the new PK, &I hope there's some blasts in there ;)

the dub and reggae groove was very strong but there were no blast beats, no old school hardcore beats or anything close to metal at all.  As someone who grew up on NYHC, the hardcore element was 0%.  But that does not mean that it wasnt a great performance.  I think its better that Drake did his own thing because I personally dont like when people try to copy other peoples styles (especially for improvs).  Yes Laswell did use distortion.  How could he not?  Mike Patton with no voice effects was the icing on the cake.
