Yesterday's Boston Globe ran an article about the ills of the jazz biz: http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/216/living/Off_the_record+.shtml The classical business has gone through the same thing, and according to the Globe is now recovering somewhat, or at least adapting to the new business environment: http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/216/living/Classical_musicians_seek_new_wa... I note that both articles lob darts at Tower's industry-bullying approach to their cash flow problems. I think the jazz article is a tad light - surely there are successful indie jazz labels out there, and I know there are stores that sell lots of jazz.
