I saw Electric Masada last Sunday in Hague at the north sea jazz festival. The drummer was Perowski and not Wollesen; The rest were indeed Dunn, Saft, Ribot, Baptista, Zorn. The show was very good; I didnt know what to expect really, maybe a mix of The Gift with an electrified chamber Masada. But to my ears it was not so much like that. It sounded more like a 70's Miles jamming band minus most of the funk, plus the Ribot sound, plus some (not much) klezmer melodies. Really grooving long jams in some of the pieces. I cannot recollect any piece titles, but some of them were quite unrecognizable in their electric reincarnation. The only played for ~70 minutes, including the encore. Zorn seemed to be in a good mood throughout, despite the apparent sound problems. The reaction of the public was quite positive too. As for his mobile phone, he was busy with it also during the Holland festival. He pulled it out during the interview and messed with it even during the NC gig. I think it is likely that he just acquired it and he is playing with it like a kid. I wonder how did he use it during the EM concert? manolis
