I rather get the original packaging and CD, instead of a CD-R. And I only buy used CD's with respect to my financial situation. If I can swing it money wise, I would buy a brand new CD. On taping concerts from an audience viewpoint...there is something powerful about the memory of being at a concert. I find recordings - especially bootleg recordings kind of interfering with my (selected) memory of the live show. I like to live with the performance in my head without hearing it again via the recording machine, etc. Also, on a semi-regular basis I do clear out my CD collection and go to an used record store to get credit to buy new stuff. But again, this is more of an issue for me to make room for new stuff. THere is something meditative about getting credit and using that credit at a record store - without knowing beforehand what one buys. I find that totally relaxing. -- Tosh Berman TamTam Books http://www.tamtambooks.com
